snorkeling attracts curious vacationers who come
to the island to sample her many beauties. Here are some of the
reasons why:

- It is the most accessible volcanic crescent-shaped island in Hawaii.
- Underwater visibility is always good, often approaching 200 ft.

Maui's Maalaea Harbor is the main departure point to visit the waters between Maui and her smaller sister island daily throughout the year. Smaller boats also find their way to Molokini's crescent from south Kihei. Morning is the best time to visit, because tradewinds can reach 20 mph in the afternoon.
